These measures did not-seem to afford much relief, ‘and ‘it was found
necessary to have the foot cut open,
ind a number of bones extracted.
Ever since then it has grown better
and worse by turns, but frone the
very first symptoms, in 1872,-he bas
been unable to do any work, or in
fact walk at all. Several times of
late amputation of the foot has been
suggested, but he strenuously objects, saying, ‘* No, no, Ihave had it
with me so long now, I am going to
carry it to the grave when I ge”

keeps boarders, when they are to be

“SHOT IN-THE ARM.

‘shot wound accidentally received by
John B, Hunier, 6f San Juan, last
Friday, is hot of so serious a nature
as was at first reported. From J, A,
Seeley we learn that he had been
out hunting with Nat, White. They
were in a buggy together. Mr Hunter's gan was. leaning ‘against his
body and the seap, with the muz

some manner the cartridge exploded,
and: the entire charge passed through
the lower side of his ari, close to the

flesh, some two inches in length,

we hope_ before long to chronicle the
victim’s recovery. Mr. Hunter is a

“PEMBROKE MURRY’S DEATH.
Judge Pembroke amen who
was here about two weeks ago, and
is well known to our people, died
suddenly of apoplexy, at Brooklyn,
Alameda’ county, on Saturday Tast,
Judge Murray. was at one time Mayor of Virginia City afterwards
a Justice of the ee See in
