bedth of Henry 8 Hradiey, Jr.
We briefly mentidned the death of
Henry, son of H. S, Bradley, in the
uxscrret of yesterday. The chi
ved five years wie sick about two
bays, and suffered much pdin it beng evident that he had sustained
me severe injury. A Chinaman,
ployed by one of the neighbors,
vatd the child screaming and sdiw
im with his hands clasped over the
pdomen and near a cow, which the
ninaman thought had kicked him.
He went into the -house crying ahd
mplained of pains but did not. tell
ny cause. Wednesday evening Drs,
Hunt and Welch were called and
very thing done for the child, but
hortification soon set im, and after
wo days of agony he died. The
aneral will take place this afternoon
t4 o'clock, frons the residence of
he parents, Who have the sympathy
{ many friends in their bereavement,

The Spotied Tax.
We publish to day a communicabi from John Pattison, Deputy
punty Clerk, in which he-shows the
bpossibility under the revenue law,
collecting the ‘‘spotted’’ or Special
strict Schuol tax. The communition should be carefully read by
ose interested’ in the matter. The
torney-General has recently given
h opinion thatthe tax must be levied
nt he gives no reasons upon which
@ bases his conclusion, If levied,
seems to us that its collection is
mpossib:e for the reasons assigned

Avoid the Perils of the Senson.
Autumn, although the mvst radiant portion of the American year, havits drawbacks
The heavy evening dews and morning vapors and the greut disparity in temperature
between the night and day, give rise to many
painful disturbances of the bowels, such as
". célic, chclera morbus, diarrhoea and dysentery. The digestive organs are also unfaVorably affected by he change of seasonand dyspeptics generally suffer most severe,
ly during the fall. Derangements of ‘the
liver are likewise common, and. miasmatic
fevers prevail in newly settled districts and
low-lying and niarshy localitiés. These unpleasant contingencies of the season are not,
however, unavoidable, By strengthening,

takes a sharper edge; the processesof digestion and assimilation become more rapid
