LOCAL MATTERS.
~Tne CuurtT Hovse.—We have every
retson ta beheve that the, new Court House
_will.be ready for beeupancy by the first of
October. ‘he plasterers urd now putting on
the second coat, the rooms are all partitioned
» ‘offyand some idea can be formed in regard
to the appearance which the —-buildingwill
present when completed—both the exterior
and interior. A magnificent centerpiece. }
intended forthe Court room, has just arrivs
ed frem San Fraveisco. It measures 5 feet
two inches in diameter. The work ig of
plaster. of Paris, gorgeously carved with
“ figures. From” the center of this the
* ehandelier is to be suspended. A modifi«
gation of the origival pian for the main entrawce, Will add’ greatly to the appearance
and couverience. Tue dvors> instead of
ewiiging out even with the wall, are tobe
set back so as to form a recess. But there
is another vhange which we think neither
adds to the beauty or converiiénce of the
etracture. That is ffe cumbérséme piece
of wood work upon the roof of the portico. .
It may be netessary, but we can’t see it.—
Altogether, we will venture te say, there
ever has been a more substantial building
putup in thie State. The material is the
best to be lind, and the work ean‘t be beat
Of the cost, we cannot speak until-the— bills
eome to te footed up. But of one thing
we are sure, the mafter will be economically
munaged by our Board of-Supervisors.—
“They will give us the beet to be had, and
seo that it does not cost teo much, ear

years. f brought it with me acrogs the plains ;
it has never yet been vut of order, T can truly say that itexcels all other Machines ehat I
have used. _I ran a Ladd & Webster six months
a Wheelcr & Wilson & Wilson eight months, and
used a Grover & Baxer alternately with Sloat’s
for two years. I am familiar-with the Howe and
several of the small nachines, but I never used
one that would do all kinds of work to equal the
Florence. Ido not think it can be tee hi hly
recommended, Mrs Peace EL118, Marysville.

I believe I con fully and egnscientiously indorse each quaiification claimed for the Florence
Maehine. 1 have thoroughly tested it en work
of all grades and each trial has been poco ay f

me. if seems more than a Machine—an almost

I know something of the other first class Machines, having learned to operate seversl. Thie
is the only Sewing Machine I have found reliable. Mts Penny G. Terr,
