By the fire which occurred here on
the night of the 15th inst., T lost all
my books and papers connected with
the Times Printing establishinent,
including account books and™mail . .
books. T have not a scrap of paper
containing the name of a'subscriber
consequently, I am er advertiser;
compelled to trust to ‘the honesty of
zmy patrons to make payment: of. the
various amounts due me by my: patrons. I published the Times just
three months and two weeks, hence
every subscriber who has not paid
Nevada County Mining’ Statistics.
There are forty-five quartz-mills in
Nevada county, having an aggregate
of 503 stamps, and a crushing, ca. pacity of about 750 tons per day.

Nevada City, Pittsburg, Thomas,
Martin & Mitchell, Eureka No. 2,.

brought down yesterday from the
North Bloomfield hydraulic mine
and sent to the Bay through Wells,
Fargo & Co.

It is expected that some castern
capitalists will drrive here next
month for the purpose of examining
the Potosi quartz mine on Gold Flat
with a view of purchasing it.
The South Yuba Water and Mining Company of New York, whose
preperty is situated in’ Nevada and
Placer counties, have just issued. a
very complete—prospectus— of their
possessions. _
Thére will be found in another
column some interesting statistics
regarding mining in’ Nevada county
which were kindly furnished us by
J.G. Hartwell who coilated them
for his new map of the county.
The orders to resume work on the
Sneath & Clay mine, which were expected the early part of this month,
have not been received, although the
local manager expectssthat instructions to-go ahead will soon arrive,
Hon. L. S. Huatington, mm ¥:,
and wife, of Montreal, Canada, are
expected to arrive here next November on avisit. Mrs. Huntington resided in this several years, and will
~ beremembered as Mrs: Chas. Marsh
by many of our citizens.
Mr. Morrison’s lot on Piety ‘Hill,
known asthe e¢ireus lot, has been
divided into four pieces and solé
for’ building purposes. Two houses
thereon are nearly completed, the
frame of another is up, and a foundation is being made for a fourth.
There are alread) a 5,200 names on
the new Great Register of this county, and it is estimated that from 100
to 200 more wiil be added before
the supplement goes to press. © At
the time ef the last election but . }
4,858 voters were registered in the
county,

Work on the Main Ditch.
Itis now expected that the South
Yuba Water andMining Company
will begin enlarging their” main
ditch about October Ist. Among
the repairs already begun on the
line is the construction of a flume
across the North Fork of Steep Hollow. This flume is to be sixty feet
high, and between 700 and 800 feet
in length. This job will. not be
completed till the latter part 6f ‘the
month, but in the meantime the
water will be run as usual through
the old flame.
