Latham, it appears, joined the Republican party two years ago, and was then repudiated by his family. There the Democratic party holds absolute sway, and there men are persecuted because of their political faith. Man ‘(personal intelligence man), have attracted so much attention, and who accompanied ex-Senator Sargent to this coast, has accepted a position as editorial writer on the Evening Post, Tux Supreme Court has denied the application for a rehearing in the case of McPherson vs, Bartlett, breught to decide the question whether there shall be anelection for Senators from odd numbered districtsin November next. The decision was in favor of an election, and, consequently, one will be held. Tue State Board of Equalization completed their labors at 2 a. M. Sunday. The board has endeavored to equalize so that each county’s property shall be assessed for from 70 to 75 per cent. on its real value.
