FRIDAY,. SEPT. 19, 1884.
Wuex Mr, Blaine’s attention was
called by the Kennebec Journal to
the new edition. of the Malligan
blackmail conspiracy, he said his
only desire was that every voter in
the United States might read the
letters for himse!f, and not form his
jadgment from editorial misrepresentation in partisan journals. There
was nota word in the letters which
was not entirely consistent with the
most scrupulous integrity and honor.
He hoped every Repablican. paper
in the United States would publish
' the letters in fall. There is even
in this brief explanation an expression of integrity which at once disarms and defeats the Democratic
conspirators.
Mr. CLEVELAND represents his
party. His policy, if elected, will
be that ofhis party. To elect him
is to elect the Democratic party
and to impose its ideas and its -doctrines and its practices upon the
country. Nobody understands this
better than Mr. Cleveland. ‘‘I am
chosen,” he has said, ‘‘to represent
the plans, purposes and policy of the
Democratic party.” Those who
vote for him will vote for ‘‘the plans,
purposes and policy of the Democratic party;” nothing more, nothing less, nothing other than this.

the sun acts sensibly, and doesn’t

o'clock, we have observed that the
wisest men give him about two hours’

Tae solitary Irish convert among
the last batch of Mormon converts
met with a warm reception from his
disgusted countrymen as he neared

him wearing green ribbons and carrying gteen flags draped in mourning.
They took along a band that played
the “the Rogue’s March” as the Irish
‘Mormon stepped off the train.
A Rocxrorp, Il!., banker pested
on his door the other day: ‘‘Owing
te the stringency of the money market I am unable to meet my obligations as they mature.” It is only
bankers who can thus stand off their

wages garnisheed.
