Bi Bail Tetuscript Sf game. i All people are mot slike. It ise good thing such fg the case we think. The bigger fool a man is the more conceit be has, as a rule, We have seen men strutting around &s proud as a peacock, when every oue was making fun of themright before their faces. It-is a nice thing to see a wise looking . man—obe who acts as if each hair on his bead ‘weighs @ pound and a quarter, aud whothinks the responsibility of a whole, comaunizy rests on bis shoulders. A handsome man is a pretty thing to see too,—oné who prides bimself on his beauty, and measures his importance by what he sees in the glass,’ Nature makes & very pretty little turn in the case of a drunkard. When he is making himself the mogt ridiculous in the eyes of spectators, she makes him feel be is doing himself the proudest. Wejhave often thought a man would appear better to keepy” still when be is drank, bat that is fhe time he ‘wants totalkthe most. We suppose the object nature has in fixing the matter up iu that way is, so he will be sure to let hia wife know when he comes home soaked. They ¢an appear wiser that way than any other. Itisa provision of nature that. some people like to tuke medicine; it they did not, how would quack doctors live? If they should starve to death, it would be too bad. 1f mules would not kick, a good many mean men would not have their ribs broken. Grass Valley Items. We collate the following from the Grass Valley Union of yesterday: Thé Allison Ranch Franklin mine is showing a remarkably rich ledge. A great mupy ‘‘pannings’’ have been made of the quariz taken out and from $10 to: $20 worth of gold to the panis nothing uncommon, Not asingle panning has been made but shows plenty of gold. Drifts are now being run, ‘and the ledge is large and iwery rich. So far the indications are that the Allison Ranch Franklin is going to beat the old Allison Ranch mine, which produced millions of gold. Hon, Frank Ganahl, of Los Angeles, candidate for Presidential ‘Elector on .the Democratic ticket, » will address the people of Grass Valley, next Thursday evening, the 2ist of September, Mr, Ganahlis one of the moat eloquent mene in the State. The affairs of tbe Bank of Nevada County have been satisfactorily arranged between the creditors and the corporation, and the 8ank of Nevada County is one of the things that was. The Citizens Bank will take its place. The stock is divided into 2,000 shares of the par value of $100 each, The officers of the Bank have been elected or appointed, and are as follows: Directors—George A. Cooper, R. M. Hunt, Joba ’T.: Morgan; T.-W. -Sigourney;—E.M;-Preston, Thos. Mein, and George M. Hughes. President, E. M. Preston. The Cashier bas not yet been .ap-j pointed. From the list of officers and the character of the stockbolders of the Bunk, and its assets, it will be seen that it is one of the strongest institutions of the kind in the State. We predict that the stock of this concern will be ‘at par inside eighteen months, The opening of a bank here isa matter of great importance to our citizens and to the whole’county in general. Business will soon begin to feel the effects of it. We shall expect to see many sacksof eoin which have been rusting in the ground for months, come forward now and be ‘. pat where they will be safe, and at the same time be-of some use tu the community. The-Citizeny Bunk. of Nevada City will be as safe as the Bank of England. = Getting Heady.
