Y. Herald says of the death of Junius Brutus Booth: He made his first appearance on the stage in 1834 at Pittsburg, and appeared first in New York at the Bowery in 1851. The same year he went to Califoroia. His father and Edwin starred in San Franciscotand Sacramento under the management of Junius and his partner, W. B. Chapman, but made no money. In Sacramento young Junius had a benefit and played ‘‘Othello” to “Iago” of his father. About this time the elder. becaine disgusted with the audiences he played before and resolving to return East, called on his son Junius for his salary, He was firm in his point and compelled young Junius, whose finances were almost at an ebb, to raise money and pay him every peony that was due. Before leaving San Francisco the old tragedian gave to Junius his ‘‘Richard” diadem ornament, which had been for years a treasure ef considerable care, caying ‘‘he-wonld never want it agaiv.” This'was the last time Junius saw his father, BremMer, the well-known minsteel, who died on Saturday at Fonds Jail, N. Y., where hehad been confined for vagrancy, at his own request, was buried in the potter's field, with the county paupers. At one time Bremmer earned $250 a week. He gave his banjo, which he had , carried through prosperity and adversity, to Jailer Dowd, ‘ PILE RR, A REIGN of terror prevails in every portion of Hegg county, Texas, except perhaps, Kilgore, from which place there ino report. A man giving the name of N. Barber, supposed to be ‘Black Bart,” the notorious stage robber,.was arrested Thursday evening by Under Sheriff Bown and Constable McGee. It appears that Barber has been in the habit of traveling through Napa Valley fora number of years past, and while here has made his headquarters for several days at a time at Mr. O. S. Sargent’s near Rutherford, and at other places in that vicinity. He pretended to be a stock dealer, . appeared very respectable, and every one snpposed him to be just what he represented himself. But some time ago Mr. Sargent got hol: of Wells, Fargo & Co.’s circular giv’. ing a description of Black Bart, °the robber, and at once recognized in the description the man Barber whom he had been harboring.
