COMPLETE HISTORY of the National, Social and Religious Errors that mankind has fallen intoand practiced from the re sic of creation, down to the present time, by FRANK 8. DOBBINS, assisted by Hon. S. Wells Williams, L. L. D., and Prof. Isaac Hall, L. L. B. Ph. D., who are eminent scholars and noted travelers. You know religion, in some form, is interwoven in the entire fabric of human histePA So the author begins with ‘The World’s First Worship,” when there was but one ——_ who worshipped but one God. They show how the pirrerENT nations GREW UP, became scattered over the earth, and different in LANeUAGE, cUsTOMS and religion. They tell us of the Sacred and Heathen Traditions of all these different nations, Then with the great first facts of history placed before us, they hidden history, and trace the errors of man there ; and so tell of the Chaldeans; of; he “Jews ;” “Japan;” of ‘The Dark Conti the Islands of the Sea ; and of all the different nations, and their great men; and of their cities, famous buildings, books, fireside tales, holidays, festivals, etc. d Their, plan has been to take the nations as they existed in their beginning, follow them in their growths, and so present to usa complete picture of them as they are to-day, in the every day life of the household and busness circle. The work contains 785 pages, a complete alphabetical index ; is beautifully illustrated with 279 engravings on steel, copper and wood, mostly procured by the authors in heir travels : Testimony worthy of fullest confidence o Men of Nevada and Yolo counties : Rev. The following is the Platform adopted the Republican State Convention: Resolved, That the Republicans of the State of California, in Convention assembled, indorse and reaffirm the National platform of the Republican party, adopted at ite Convention, recently held in Chicago, and we congratulate the country upon the nomination of Blaine and Logan, the true representatives of the American policy of progress and unity, Resolved, That we declare that the prosperity of labor and the interest of capital require the maintenance by. the National Government of the American system of tariff for protection. Under this policy which has been constantly supported by the Republican party since its foundation, our varied industries have been fostered @nu extended, our laboring classes have enjoyed better wages than in any other part of the world, and the whole country has achieved unparalleled prosperity. We denounce the free trade policy which the Democratic party. has advocated since 1840 as dangerous to the well-being of American labor, We arraign the Democratic party of California for supporting the National Democratic party, which stands upon a platform that declares, in effect, for the freetrade doctrine of tariff for revenue only, as admitted by prominent members of the committee that framed the plank. We: insist that the success of the British policy woulddestroy the growing industries of our com. monwealth, especially the grape, raisin, wool and manufacturing-‘interests, and would reduce the wages of our workingmen to the starvation point. + Resolved, ‘That ‘we ask and demand that the industry of the manufacture of the raisin shall be protected by a protective duty, and resolved that we demand the restoration of the tariff on wool as fixed by the law of 1867 Resolved, That we are in favor of the adoption of the Proposed amendment to Section 7 of Article 9 of the Constitution of free text-books for use in the common schools throughout the State, Resolved, what the Republican paity of California hasa consistent record in its unSwerving devotion to the interests of the people in opposition to all 1 burst—We declare that railroad corporations being organized for a public use, all unjust discrimination as between r places is in direct violation,.of Mhe ¢ Conatien: tion of this State, and should be rohibited, Second--We declare that the P viesoa for freight by all transportation companies should only be what the service is reasonably worth, Third—It is the duty of the Railroad Commission to regulate freights and fares justly.in the interest of the people. We call attention to the section of the platform of the National Republican party which favors Congressional legislation to carry out the constitutional power of Cone gress to regulate interstate commerce, and penely to the lan; e declaring that e principle of the public regulation of railroad corporations is a wise and salutary one for the protection of all classes of the people, and we favor legislation that shall prevent unjust discrimination and excessive charges for transportation, and that shall secure to the people and to the railways alike . fair and equal protection of the laws, _ We most heartily indorse this declaration. We charge that the platform of the National Democratic iy evades this great issue. We arraign the Democratic pares of California for supporting a-candidate for President whose public record identifies him as a friend of mono ly and an enemy to the rights and the interests of the people. We particularly denounce the doctrine advanced by the nominee of the Democratic party for President in his vete in the New York Legislature of the bill reducing, fares on the Elevated Railroads, in which he declared;that there was no constitutional power in our Legislature to reguate and abridge privileges granted by former L jure to a public agency.
