NEVADA CITY, CALIFORNIA,
LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.
RUNAWAY AND ACCIDENT.—On
Saturday night,three young gentlemen,
residents of Grass Valley, Fouse, Beatty
und Cook, left this city for home, and
by mistake got on the Crandall roadOn finding their mistake, they con~
~ cluded to go on and take the cross road
‘ from the Crandall, ea the Eureka mine
to Grass Valley. Beatty took the-reins,
and mistaking the track ran into ‘a
ditch. He was thrown forward out of
the buggy. and Cook in attempting. to
reach the lines also fell out, when the
horses started on a run. . Fouse, who is
a good horseman, and jn the: buggy
~~ alone, got down. upon the pole, thence
upon one of the horses, when he suc~
ceeded in stepping the team. Cook received a severe gash in the forehead and
Beatty a cut in the back of the head.
Both parties were also considerably
bruised, bat their injuries are not ofa
serious character.
ATTEMPT TO ADMINISTER CHLOROFORM AND Ros.—On Saturday night
‘a Chinaman named Ah Fung;-went to
the house of Guu Qui, a Chie woman
on Commercial street, and while an ac-—
complice waited on the outside, she
states that he came into her room. and
. threw.a mixture’ which he had in a
bottle into her face. The woman gave
eanalarm,a number of her neighbors
‘came, and Ah Fung was captored and
locked in a room, when Marshal Cornell
was sent for. On his arrival he arrested
Fung, and found in his possession a
bottle containing chloroform. The woman had some money and ear and finger rings, which Ah Fung probably ins
tended to steal. Recently, several Chinese women have been robbed ih this
city by Chinamen.
CHANGE oF TIME.—We learn that
on the 26th inst. the time of the up

where a junction will be made with the
Western Pacific trains for San Francisco. Passengers will then go through
to San Francisco without going into
Sacramento. The cars will reach Colfax about half past 4 0’clock,. and mails
and express will reach here at 8 or 9
o'clock. Passengers and mails will
come from San Francisco to Nevada in

In THE FIELD.—Banner Bros., the}
irrepressible clothiers are still. in the
field and masters of it in the clothing
trade. Their extensive business connections enable them to procure the!
latest and most fashionable styles of .
clothing, as soon as the most favored
dealers of San Francisco, and_ to sell
everything in the clothing line fully as
cheap, while in matters of this kind it
is impossible for any one in the interior
to compete with them. They are now
receiving direct from the East, larg
lots of new and fashionable suits for the
Fall trade, of the best material, made
up specially for this market, and they
are selling these goods at remarkably
low prices. ‘Those anxious to know the
secret of Banner Bros. success in trade,
have only to call at the stdre and ex~
amine the goods and prices. *
JUST THE TImE.—Gentlemen, if you
want the newest, neatest, prettiest and
. finest Fall suits, to suit your taste, and
‘make you look yeunger, neater, and
{Satisfy you better than anything you
have had far years, go to Rosenstock
Price & Co’s. store, corner of Pine and
Commercial streets, and lodk. at the
for this-market. +For stability, quality
and cheapness, they excel anything
ever brought to the mountains, and will
be sold as cheap -us they can be bought
in San Francisco. Be sure and call. *
First oF THE Season.—Julius Dryfuss, on Pine street, is receiving fresh
oysters every day from the Bay, and
will ‘serve them to customers in any
style. His place is fitted up for the accouimodation of ladies and gentlemen.
Go and try them.
SPECIAL.—When you visit the Fair
