Quartz IN _Evreka.—Considerable has been done, during the past six months, toward thé development of rich quartz mines in Eureka township. Prospectors in that part of the county have greater difficulties to contend with than near Nevada. The ‘ ground is hard and prospecting is very expensive. After-the ledye is found the rock has to be freighted a long distance before’ its value can be tested; but the ledges are all very large, many of them being twenty: feet in width. Duriag the pustsix months several ledges have been sufficiently prospected to prove them exceedingly rich — Near the town of Eureka a splendid ledge has been recently opened by a San Francisco company. We learn that during the next season several quartz mills are to be erected. : ~ Ricn Cuaims ar Hunw’s Hite.—We were shown a specimen of dirt taken from the claims‘of Clay, Hagadorn & Larkin, at Hunt's Hit! §=This isthe only point where the Blue Lead has been found clearly defined north of Greenhorn creek. -Some streaks of it have been struck in Jacohs & Sargeni’s claims at Quaker. Hill, but no cléarly defined channel has been found.— T Wo cluime are being worked by rude machinéry at Hunt's Hill. Clay & €o. are building one of the best millsin the county and it will soon be ready’ to commence work. The cement from which the specinen shown us was taken has been prospected with a hand mortar and found.to yield eight dollars to the pan. ‘The company have all the ground they want and a “sure thing” ona fortune.»-HYDRAULICS.—The County Court House is supplied with water by the City Water ~ Company. Ithas been conveyed from the main pipe partly through a Jeaden pipe which was found insufficient to suatain the pressure. Yesterday, Mr. Stoakes went-to work for the purpose of replacing the lead pipe with iron. By accident the pipe was cut off, letting on a full head of water, giving the workmen a free bath and playing smash generally.‘ Before’ the men could’ proceed with their work they were compellod to don water proof clothing. In the meantime the water was‘is free as the dar. ’ ’kies in South Carolina. A TELFGRAPH WanrTep.—The great richness ofthe mines of Excelsior District is now established beyond doubt. The population is already quite large, andin the Spring will ‘probably be doubled. Quite a large amount of business will be carried on between Nevada and Summit City, and a line of telegraph would pay well. A line from this city would furnish easy communican with San Francisco, Virginia and Marysville. We hope the State Telegraph Company will take the matter in hand. Low Waren —The water is so low in Gold Run that Stiles has been compelled to build a fluine from Deer Creek in order to keep his mill running. The flume takes the water from just below Broad street bridge. The water ean only be raised to a sufficient height.to strike the wheel at the mill about half way up, working it asa breast wheel. ‘Phe power is only sufficient to run four stamps. The mill has a large bank of rock waiting to be crushed. ~ Can ‘One. MEpIcINE Cure ALL DisEASES !—In answer, we would say that we have but one kind of blood, and whatever the disease may be, the life current must be purified, and only through the cleansing orgaps, the skin, the lungs, the liver, the kidneys, and the intestines, Good blood will make strong nerves, and bring about health, banish rhéumatism, scrofula, eruptions, mercurial and hereditary ailments, &c. Le Doyen’s Sarsaparilla, Iodine Alteratiye is the great’blood purifier. Crane & Brigham Agents. = THE First MILL.—We learn that Win. ton & Co’s mill has been completed and is now in operation at Excelsior, This is the first mill completed in the District. Two other mills will soon be. ready to start. First Cavsnixe.—Two hundred pounds of ore from the White Mountain lead, Ex: eelsior District, was crushed at the Mariposa mill, Virginia, and paid at the rate of. $36 to the ton. _ THe Nevada Flouring Mill is now kept 'o operation day and ight, in order to meet _ the demands fer flour. This mill makes as Good four as can be found in the State, /. By fair and honorable dealing we “hope to secure a share of public patronage. 4 e Siegen teat tieetenee taneeeete WHOLESALE & RETAIL GROCERIES LIQUORS, FEED, all kinds, MINERS’ TOOLS, &e. &c NO. 59 BROAD STREET.
