THE LIVER.
The Unusual Attention which)
-. People,
~— this Orgarris now Attract--—
Ets Delicate Structare and Susceptibility to Injary from Wounds
er Diseases
.
During-the past few weeks, owing to an
event of natioual interest, much has_ been
said and written about the injurious effects
of wounds in the liver, and according to the
Surgical History of the War of the ReBellion,
of the thousands of cases of wounds: in that
were hot yiolent ones. The structure of the liver is delicate and
yet aimpleIt*is composed’ of twé-lobes;
which lie directly under the right Jung, and
is of aspongy character. When" thé véinous
plood és circulating from the various pat ts of
the body to the lungs) it pdases through this
organ, and is there relieved of its-ranle poisons, part of which are used for digestion
dnd p4rt‘for a*cathartié. of the: wasté materials of the food we eat. If the organ is at
gil’diseased THESE POISONS. REMAIN IN IT, instead of being used as nature desi¢ned, and
with every coursing of the blood through
thélobes of the liver, the nature: off the disease becomes chronic. The reason why 80
licété duccess has “hitherto been’ reached in
the treatment_of liver disease is because the
the remedies ermployed havebee inadequate. Itisa concedéd fact that until within the past few years there has been .no
known remedy for chronic kidney diseases;
And ‘itis certain that the liver cannot be restored to its right action if the kidneys are
‘affected. Itis also afsct that when the liver
is diseased the kidneys~are ‘also troubled;
hence, it follows that liver diseases are hard
td cure, chiefly becduse the doctors know of
noagenvy which #illet: one ‘and. the same
time operate on both the kidneysand the
liver:
: :
Admittiiy them, that no forin of treat-"
ment can be effective which does not seek to
reach both the liver and the kidneys at the
same time, it would be'strange, indeed; if in
allthe researches of this wonderful age of
scientific invention no such remedy had
been'found.' The déetors ailmit they have
nothing to offer, but independent scientists
have honored their learning and. patience,
by discovering a*pure vegetable remedy
whose unparalleled success in the~—past
few ;years in the treatment of kidney
difficultié, sliows conclusively that it can
cure every form of known kidney disease,
and what it hasdone fo: the kidneys it is
erqually ible to do and does do for the liver.
Warner’s Safe Kidney and Liver Cure was
the discovery of a practitioner, who proved
its Worth in his_own case and then gave'it
tothe world, Itacts bothas a food and a
restorer to the kidneys and—liver so thiat
when diseasé is cured in one of these organs
it-eannot go to the other, but is entirely remoyed from the system. :
Liver troubles are caused principally by
malaria, which is, at the preseht time, becoming so great an evil in this land,—so.
-much so that President Paul A.Chadbourne,
of Williams College, has just published a long
and interesting article on its wide-spreading
prevalence. He states that malarial poisons
low and damp, in the crowded city and the
roomy country, and there are no differences
as to the effects produced. Malaria is in the
water we drink, in their we breathe, in the
food we eat, and while constantly and naturally increasing with the growth of the coun' ry, it is just ‘at present afflicting us, as the
epizooty did a few years ago, as a widespread and dangerous epidemic.
What, therefore, can be thecause for this
+errible increase of malaria in all parts ofthe
states and territories?’ Unquestionably the
drinking water used in every portion of the
land is the most active agency for-carrying
malaria into thesystem. This water may be
clear, but it has become poisoned Dy: filtration through the vaults, cesspoolsand Warnagencies in the city. Heretofore the Western states and térritories and almost the entire South have been consMered the field“of
malaria,owing doubtless to the:poor drainage
in many localities and the consequent. accumu’ation of green poisonous matter: This
theory is, however, now exploded, bécause
malarial poisoning is becoming just as cortimon inother regiéns, as: those whieh have
beeh settled for hundkeds of years. .
Whatever may be the cause of malaria, its
existence isa terribly established fact, and
so much so that it isattracting theattention
of the leading physivtians, sciefitists and
scholars *n-évery ‘portion of America.» By
means of ite blighting powers the blood be. somes poisoned and the most terrible dis; eases follow. -The special field for the opera. tion of thig poison is in the liver. If this
{organ is &t all dige sed, malaria siézes: it
withadeath grip. It is therefore absolutely
necessary tokeep the liver in.perfect condition and especially at this time. The elements of Warner's Safe Kidney and Liver
“Cur@gate exactly fitted for Just this very
purpose. Cotapésed of @ pure and simple
vegetable extract and prepared in the most
careful manner, it has been the. means of restoring more people to health within the
past year tlh amy othér agency known in
the land.*. Prof. 8. A LAttimore,Ph, D., LL.
D., one of the analysts of-foods and medicines for the New York State Board of
Health, pronounses its elements and composition pufely vegetable, neither poisonous
nor injurieus: Inorder to eounteract:the
terrible influences _ of ‘4nd@arial poison, the
‘greatest-capetis Tequired, seSpecially at the
