Tweed, who was announced to speak with Judge McFargreeted with: large and enthusiastic crowds, and he speaks of the prospects as exceedingly encouraging. There never was a contest in which Union men were so enthusiastic, and there is every indication that the State’ will go for Grant ard Colfax by a very large majority. Let every loyal man determine to work in order to swell the majority. Tue MEETING SatuRDaY Nicat.— ~On-Saturday evening a discussion. will “take place im this city, between George . C. Gorham and Gen. Wallace: The Union-men have selected Judge MoFarland to Preside, and the Democrats . J udge Reardan. The speakers will of ‘course maké their own arrangements “> ae-te the division of time and the rules . for the debate. This meeting,in which both parties will be represented, ‘will be one:of the miost interesting of the campaign: Both parties will of course turn oue .in their full strength, and the best men of each party should see that good order is preserved, and a patient and respectful hearing’ accorded to bos speakers. IN THE Wrong ‘Camr.—The Demoerates of this city are making arrangements fora grand blow out at some}. , timeand place not yet designated. They were around recently asking contributions to aid the cause, and one of the committeemen had the assurance to go toa Union firm in this city, and ask for five dollars to aid their work. He was refcsed,but persisted on the ground that demonstrations help the town and there were only eight or ten Democrats in this vicinity able to contribute. The Union man told .the solicitor he was doing all he could to beat Democracy, and any one who would contribute to aid a cause he did not believe in ought to-be kicked out of town. Unton Men ENROLL.—The following persons have been deputized by Assessor Bean to enroll and register throughout: the county. They will give all necessary information and attend to all matters in connection with transferring or enrolling voters. For the county at large—W. J. Organ, C. E. Mulloy; 4. F. Mason, ©.
