HepGine,—We understand that the

upon carrying the State that they are
beginning to “hedge” on their bets—
but we were not prepared to learn that

an advertisement headed “A Card,” in

Seymour and Blair will carry California

THE TAR, Pha Naveds batted
lio of Tanners, consisting of three
companies under command of Lieut.
‘Schmidtburg were out for drill on Wed= .
nesday night. The companiés formed
in the Club room and marched out on
the street. After'a short drill by company the battalion was formed on Pine
street where they went through dress
parade under Major Deal and Jos. R.
English, Acting Adjutant. ‘The battal.
}ion was then formed and went through
the various evolutions of. the Tanner
‘tactics with excellent. precision. The
Lincoln march and Labyrinth in. which
three lines of-men marched in opposite
directions were splendidly executed.
At the conclusion of the drill the battalion was mustered into service, and the
companies dismissed. They marched
to the armory. where Companies 1 and 2
were dismissed. Company 3 marched
to the residence of its Captain, E. F.
Bean, where they were hospitably entertaified. ‘After the festivities were
over, the Company drew up in front of
Bean’s residence, atid’ gave hini three
cheers. They halted in front of Brown’s
house, and gave three cheers for N. P.
Brown of the TRaNscriPT. They then
marched to Tisdale’s, and gave three
cheers for W. L. Tisdale, three cheers
for Farquhar and three cheers for Sargent. On the'match «up the company
halted in front of Sargent’s residence,
and three cheers were given for HonA, A. Sargent, the next Representative.
fromthe 2d District. The Nevada
Brass Band. furnished excellent music,
and after a first-rate time the company
marched to the Club room and was dis,
missed about 11 o’clock. The Tanners
are enthusiastic and will do good service in the campaign:
To Frenon Vorens,—Felix Gillet,
of this city, has issued a pamphlet to
the French voters of California,entitled
“The Parties of the United States, ‘aua . *
the Presidential Election of 1868.” The
writer reviews the history of parties
very intelligently, canvasses the candidates, and gives a large collection of
facts and figures relative to American
politics, interesting for Frenchmen.
