House Tienadngs
On Monday morning, about. 2
o’clock, the residence of —T.—W.
Sigourn@, on Nevada streot, was
eutered by burglars. _Mr. Sigourney
and family were absent at thé State
Fair, and the house was occupied by
the girl. The rogues broke into the
house through a side window, knocking out the sash and glass, evidently
thinking the place unoccupied. The
girl was aroused and heard them
talking in the hall, though she could
not distinguish the words used. They
lita candle and placed itcn the sill.
She opened the door and aske’ ‘hem
what they were doing there. ne of .
them said they had been sent to work;
but supposed they had made a mistake in the place, and shortly after
they went out. The girl thinks they
were Americans from their talk, and
says they were dressed in dark woolen clothes, and were of medium size.
She was much frightened at the time,
but thinks she could recognize the
men if she saw them again.
Supplement To-day. me
_ We publish in a supplement to-day
the speech of John Coghlan on his
reception at Vallejo. It explains fully the terms of the proposed lease of
Goat Island, and at a glance it will
be seen far more favorable to the
State than the grant advocated by
the Union of 150 acres, and 500 feet
right of way for railroad pyrposes in
the same locality. The speech has
been so grossly. misrepresented that
the people ‘will find interest in a
careful reading of it.

wherever the natural conditions are such
to generate intermittent or remittent fevers,
it is held in the highest esteem, both as an

this renowned tonic and renovator is now
