Our Jewish friends had their stores closed, and the town presented the appearance of some one having ‘‘kicked the bucket.”——-Gold in big chunks continue to be found in the streets leading to Gold Flat; in other words, in the vicinity of the place where we stated last week there were as good leads asever was struck on the ridge where the Pittsburg mine is situated._—Two hunters left this city a few days ago, and returned before sunrise yesterday morning, bringing a dead squab with them. It’s rather rough on the hunters.—-The District Court will meet today, the Lord willing.——Teams loaded with machinery for a new mill, to be erected somewhere-on the ridge, passed through this city yesterday, It came from the Nevada Foundry, as a matter of course. Talking about foundries, there is not a better one on the coast than that owned by ‘David Thom, on Spring street. Work is tarned out equal to any and as cheap as the same kind can be donein the State.——It is rumored thata 6% cent whisky shop will soon’ be opened in this city. We presume an ordinance will be passed compell-. ing the fellow to locate his ‘‘dead-fall” on the outside of the corporation ; near the graveyard, we would respectfully suggest. ——The Hidden Gravel Mining Company, located on Alta Hill, Grass Valley, has been incorporated. Capital stock, $300,080, divided inte 3,000 shares of $100 each. The Trustees for the first three months are H. H. Blake, H. J. Payne, W. A. Bateman» 3. 8. Curtis, and David Wilder.——The case of Lotta Morton comes up before JusPlainant in this case, and defendant in two or three cases to be tried before Justice Palmer.—The ball to be given by the members of the Brooklyn Lodge, 1. 0. 0. F., at You Bet, on Thursday evening, Oct, 6th, promises to be a grand affair. A general invitation has been extended to everybody, so we have been requested to state. Within the past week, D. R. Ammon is to be'as plentifal here as in any State in the Union, With all the advantages in the world for raising chickens and turkeys, nobody sedms to care about engaging in the business very extensively. Wheat is shipped from this State East to feed hens . and in return thousands of dozens of eggs. are sent to this coast. Splendid arrangement !——One or two hundred Chinamen, . who have been working in the upper part of the county, passed through this city yesterday, bound for the lower régions.—.
