Deputy Marshal Getchell and offi-.
cer William Scott have been*engaged
-jn ferreting out the robbery'of Jack’s.
store. A night or two ago. officer
Seott got-on the track of the rogue.
Ah Ghow, an old Chinese rogue, was
seen loitering in the vicinity of the}.
building on the night it was entered,
and the carpet sack: stolen from SanIn this sack some of the tobacco
taken from Jack’s store was found.
On Thursday night Ah Chow came
to town and-went to the cabin he has
calaboose. His shoes weré found to
~ be the exact size of the tracks left by
the rogue in his course from Jack’s
store, and the fellow. captured is. undoubiedly} the thief. He is an old
offendé? and was’ arrested some time
ago for sluice rybbery,. The tools
were found in his. possession, but no
furthet evidence could be obtained.
The city officers have shown tact and
energy in working up the-case, and
they are entitled to credit for it. He
was taken before Justice Davidson
who committed him to jailon the
charge of burglary, ‘to await the action{of the -Giand Jury.
