Craelty to Animals. ;
A teamster, on Monday; who had
, brought up’a lond to this city, gave
one of his mules a terrible beating
with a heavy oaken club, and when
requested to desist by an officer,
paid no attention to the order, but . kept on with his beating, until it
was fouwtl. necessary to arrest him.
He was taken before Judge Davidson,
on the charge of cruelty to animals,
where proving by a number of witnesses the good character of himself
and the bad: character of his: mule,
he was let off by simply paying the
costs,
