Creek Ensign of August 27th gives
an account of some singular weod,
which can be worked into beautiful
furniture: There is a species of red
ited extent in the mountains some
twenty miles from here, and indeed
is found in many parts of the coast,
though never in great ‘abundance.
The trees are frequently of considerable size often cutting planks over
two feet in width. This wood is
comparatively unused inthe manufacture of farniture, its value im that
direction being at present unknown.

beautiful grain and high polish attracted immediate attention, and it
