The Alta remarks: ‘A wise custom
is uusetilel, and a bad precedent established in nominating a non-resident candidate for Congress,” and
that “Mr. Sumner has been placed in
false relations to the people of the
Second District, and should draw
out of them by declining this nomination.” If Mr. Sumuer accepts the
nomination James A. Loutitt, the Republican nomince, will have an easy

Frue being sufizient:to pay the entire cost of the mvchizes nearly every month of the
ar. ‘ .
The fo!lowing is an enumeration of its many advantages over all other similwr machines:
“1. Its cost is not more than half that of any other of ey al capacity, ‘and the weight is
nearly 1,000 pou ads ie33, thus’yrevtly relu:ing the cost of transportation,
. 2. The expense of setting up in running or ler is nof mo-e then one-third that of the
Frue, or any other belt michine, much less grading and timber work being necessary.
8. ‘The expanditure for repair is not more than one-fifth that of any other belt michine,
and they will last fully three times as long, working under the same conditions.
4. Not more than one-halt the space is required—a point of great importance where a
considerable number are used, é
5. No special skill anv very little circ is necessary to operate it.
6, Nomore water is require! than is furni~hed by the batteries.
7. It savesnll theamalg«m, gold ur silver, that escapes the batteries, pans or settlers,
ITs INVALUABLE FEATURE, and cliimed by noother, msking the machine worth
more than :t costs or this purpose alone. p
8. Amuch coarser grade of ore can be handled successfully than by auy other machine
—a great aivantage in many instances waere flac crushing 13 not necessary to eliminate
‘the mineral,
9. It has nosmall and delicate mechanism, requiring nice adjustment and the closest
attention -an insuperable objection toall belt and oth er furms’of machines, making them
wholly unfit for che rough service of a quartz mill.
10. Gieat simplicity of construction and small nuriber of wearing parts. The whole ™achine is comprised in seventeen pieces, only three of which are subject to any especial
wear, and these can be replace! ata nominal cost. The Frue has 113 pieces, aud some
similar machinee many more, making a complication of parts that involves ccustant repair and great expn:es in this way, as wellasin loss of tims.
We are aware that the most sweeping and pretentious claims are made for nearly every
