ELECTION LAW.
PART I. TITLE IV.—Of Crimesagainst the
Elective Franchise.
Section 41. Every person charged with
the performance of anv duty under the provisions of any law of, this State relating to.
to perform it, or who in his official eapacity knowingly and fraudulently acts in contravention or violation of aby of the provisions of such law is, unless a different
punishment for such an act or omission is
prescribed by tl is Code, punishable bya
fine not exceeding one thousaud dollays, or
by imprisonment in the State\ Prison not
exceeding five years, or both.
Sec. 42. Every pérson who wilfully
causes, procur -8, or allows himself to be
registered in the Great Register of any
county Knowing bimself not to be entitl d
tu such registration, is punishable by fine
not exceeding one thousand dollars, Gr by
imprisonment-in the County Jail or State,
Prison not exceeding one year, or by both.
In all cases where on the trial of a person
charged with any offense uacer the provisions of this section, it appears in evidence
that the accused stands registered in the

Sec. 43. Every p-rson who, after being

more tickets folded together, or changes

Sec. 46 Every person not entitled to
vote, who fruudulently attempts to vote,or
who, being entitled to vote, attempts to
vote more than once at any eiection, is
guilty of a misdemeanor, —

aids, assists, counsels or advises another to
wive or offer lis vote at any electiou,knowing that the person is not qualified to vote,
is guilty, of a misdemeanor,
Sec. 48. Every officer or Clerk of Election who ails in changing or destroying
any poll list, or. in placing any ballots in
adds, or attempts to add, any ballots to
those Irgally polled at such election, either
by fraudu'ently introducing the same into
the ballot box before or-after the ballots
therein have been counted, or adds to or
mixes with, or attempts to add to or nix
with, the ballots polled, any other ballots,

threats, menaces, bribery, or any corrupt
means. either directly vr indirectly attempt
to influence any elector in giving his vote,
or deter him from. giving the same, or attempt by any means whatever to awe, restrain, hinder, or disturb any elector.in
the free exercise of the right of suffrage, or
furnishes any elector wishing to vote, who
cannot read, with a ticket, informing or
giving such elector to understand that it
