German Celebration.
The Germans of Nevada and vicinity
re making arrangements. for an ap
propriate celebration of the late Prassian victories, culminating in the sursender of Napoleon and the remnants
of his army. A meeting will be held
at the Theatre this eyening, at ‘half
past seven o'clock, for the purpose of
making arrangements for the celebra. San Francisco shonl@dnvariably stop at the
4 Cosmopolitan Hotel, qorner. of Bush gnd
Sansome Streets. Itis decidedly the best
‘. fitet-class Hotel at the Bay and yet the prices charged are lower than any of the others. The proprietors are the most polite .
and attentive landlords to be found on the
Pacific coast. Give them a call and you
will never regret it. *

~—4tnvited to be present at the meeting
They havé’ abandant’ reason to be
proud of the prowess of Germain arms
for their achicvements in the past
month have scarcely a paraiel in War‘fare. In thirty days trom the time the
‘first blow was struck, they completely
sonihilated all that dan be found of the
regularfrench army, The successes
have been purchased at a terrible : cost
of life, tor they were-fighting an enemy of ejual courage with themselves,
and therefore have ‘mere cause to be
roud of their achievements.

coment A en
cabin between Cherokee and Columbia
Hill, has kept his money, some $350,
in an open cellar under his cabin. A
few days. since, during Donnelly’s abgence, two little children of a neighbor
named Kilroy while bunting cats in
tlie cellar accidentally found the money.
‘The twenty ‘dollar pieces were the
finest:playthings they had. scen fura
long time,and they amused themselves
for an hour or two counting them,
piling them up, and throwing them
‘round in the dirt, antil finally they
were found by their mother, wuio0 took
charge of the money. Fortanawly
none was lost, and Dunnelly has secured a sater place to deposit his
money.
Butter. . .
From 15,000 to 20,000 pounds of butter ismade annaally on the ranches
east of the summit in this, county.
There are numerous val.eys in that region, well adapted tor yrazing, and
which are gradually filling up. Io Sardine valley, just north of the Nevada
county line, there is a large cheese factory; and the batter and cheese product of that region’ is increasing very
last.
Sudden Death,
Ebenezer Nash, an old gentleman
who has been stopping for some weeks
at the National Hotel, was found dead
in his room yesterday. He ate breakfast as usua!, and soun after went to his
room. Notuing more was seen of him
until half past five in the evening,
when the room was entered, and he
was found dead on his bed. He seema
te have died without a struggle.
Fall Goods.
Banner Brothers received yesterday
atthe Clothing Emporium, corner of
Broad and Pine streets, their first installment of Full goods. ‘They have
more on the way, which will be received at the Ewporiam as fast as
freighting facilities can be had. The
public are invited to cail and examine
their stock.
The Life Sustaining Principle.
The vital and the muscular systems are en.
tirely distinct from each other. A’ man may
have the brawn of.a Hercules, but if deficient
invital energy he will not wear as‘well.or las,
as long, or be as healthy ard happy. while he
doés iast, as the man of ordinary, or even
slender build, who possesses a larger share of
this animating principle. One of the greatest
recommendations uf that pure vegetable invigsrant, Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters, is that
it increases the vital force of the system. No
muscle, or thicken and vulcanize his thews
and sinewe; but Hostetter’s Bitters has an
eficet much more important. . Its use promotes constitutlonal vigor. It reinforces the
life power, of which bone and sinew and muscle are merely the instruments, holding the
same relation to it that’ machinery does to
steam. Let the slight and apparently fragile
take heart, they may haye more stamina,
though far lees physical strength; than the
broad shonldered athleies they regard with
envy: To restore, to sustuin, 10 increase this
stamiual principal which, when in full supply,
is the source of health and the -best guaran.
tee of longevity, is a special property of the
famous restorative. Itis not only a specific
for dyspepsia, biliourness,{ntermittent fevers,
conrtipation, etc., and a preventive of all dia_
eases of a malarious character, but the best of
all medicines tor strenythenicg the constitution and awakening the powers of nature from
whatever cause they may have become
‘lethargic. 1 ;
