Yesterday forenoon two men at Forest Springs, by the name of Geo, Butts and Bob Roberts, had an encounter, and during the melee Butts stabbed Rober's’ and. killed him. The patties were disputing about work ‘in a mining claim. Butts went up to Grass Valley and gave himself up to an officer, and was brought to this city and lodged in jail to await a preliminary examination.
