THURSDAY, SEPT. 7.
In the excitement attendant upon
their effort to get an anti-mining
plank into the Republican platform,
_ the Marysvillians forgot their usual
cunning. The Alta calls attention
to the manner in which the enemy
showed their hand: The Marysville
Appeal has found great. fault with
_. the statements made in the Alta that
the anti-miners were inimical to drift
and quartz as well as hydraulic mining; the Appeal insisting that it represented. the voice of the valley, and’
hat after the hydraulic mines were
“closed, the other miners would be
left in peace. Mr. Jewett, a leading
citizen of Marysville, and the especial leader and mouth-piece of the anti-miners in the lateconvention at
Sacramento, endeavored, in the Committee on Resolutions, of which he
wasa member, to commit the convention to a resolution pledging the
’ Republican party to such: legislaiion
as would hereafter prevent all minere from putting debris into the
rivers or their tributaries. The committee refused to entertain this very
modest proposition: of Mr. Jewett,
but he afterward on the floor of the
convention stated what he desired,
and expressed great chagrin that
such a plank in the platform was not
adopted.
Now, with all deference to the Appeal; we think Mr. Jewett and bis
fellow anti-mining delegates spoke
the truth when they told the convention, substantially, that it was
their desire to stop all sorts of min_ing. —

HEALTH IS BEAUTY
There isnothing more attractive than the
. sight of a perfectly healthy voman. The
secret of beauty is a clear, fresh and pure
cofaplexion. Persons using powders and
paints have a doughy skin, full of black
spots, the skin is of a sallow color, unhealthy
and often covered with Aree OE
In such cases the AINAXAB is particularly useful, as it remedies the deleterious action of those preparations, and while it e:hances their effect, it prevents the harm
which they would otherwise occasion. It
will restore the circulat «1of the blood in
— vessele, it. w give back the
ty of the skin, Itwill remove all the
effete matter which forms layers on the
skin; it will clear the pores and give them
back the Pewee of open hg and contracting,
which"a healthy person possesses. It wil
most tively cure PIMPLES, and remove
BLACK WORM, tetter, sores of any kind,
redness, either induced by congestion of the
capillary vessels or indulgence at the table.
Ita.action on the circulation will bring back
the natural color to the hair, No remedy
mel sty a found to cure the inflammation
producedby POISON OAK aa effectually
and rapidly ag the AINAXAB
The AINAXAB contains neither mercury,
lead, bismuth, nitrate of silver, nor any mineral or vegetable salts, which could in the
least injure the most delicate complexion
