Vivid scarlet silk blouses are re which are to be worn with black” beaded zouaves, having lace epaulettes and bows on the shoulders. : Black grenadines with flowers of red} yellow and pink, or long trailing green vines, are now becoming popular. These gowns are either made over black or changeable silk. A Paris hint is a toiletts de diner, is of Dresden blue bengaline, trimmed with chinchilla fur. The seeves are of a dark blue ve'vet and cheniisette of white »tinousseli ¢ de soie, A delightfaf bounet in lace and jet is shown. ‘The rolling edge is covered with yellaw chiffon, and-the rest af the trimming consists of black lace bows and jet spikes. Scarlet Fever. There are several cases of scarlet fever in town, but as yet it is rather mild in form. It is probable that the disease will have quite a run, as we understand some of the children afflicted attended school until taken down and that members of families in which there 1s sickness from the disease have been going to schoel right along. The milkmaids convention at the Methodist Church parlors on Wednesday evening drew a large audience and proved to be a highly interesting enter~ tainment. Hay is selling for $5 a ton on some of the ranches near Marysville, The price in this city for the same kind of hay is about $20 per ton. These young lovers who had fornierly been friends were now enemies, and a few evenings ago in the company of mutual friends a dispute: arose and they hotly opposed each other; their pent-up feelings would stand it no longer; the lie was. passed and they shook hauda to meet again.
