A Grand Reception Given to the Officers of the Miners’ Association. Saturday evening’s regular train brought to this city Hon. J. H. Neff, . . President of the Miners’ Association, W.C. Mead ef Sierra county, ‘and a number of the prominent citizens of Grass Valley. ‘Together with a number of the citizens of this city the jolly crowd went to.the National Hotel, where a grand banquet had been prepared for them. The meeting was called to order by Alf. Tregidge, President of the Miners’ Asso. ciation of this county. then followed by the above named gentlemen, and by Senator E. M. Preston, Majer.McBride and A. B. Dibble. During the evening telegrams of a very cheering characterwere read from Hen, Niles Searls and J. B. Hobson, delegates in Washingten. Senator Preston offered a resolution,~expressing the sentiments of the meeting, .to be telegraphed to our delegates in Washington, complimenting the delegates for what they had done, and assuring them of our unstinted support, which was unanimously adopted. Taking everything into consideration it was one of the most enthusiastic mat. ings ever held in this city, and the guests went away feeling that the mining comn.unity was surely alive to the subject of the resumption of hydraulic mining, and that their reception could not have been excelled anywhere. Buggy-Biding Accident, Richard Michell of Grass Valley, and Miss Nettie Hoskins ot this city were out buggy riding yesterday. When near Judge Roberts’ place, on the Grass Valley road, a team coming from the opposite direction collided with their buggy, forcing the vehicle over the bank, which at that point is alout eight feet high. ‘The buggy was upset and both occupanta thrown out upon the rocky ground. Mr. Michell had a thnmb broken, and was alse bruised and scratched considerably. Miss Hoskin sustained « few scratches. One of the wheels of the buggy was badly demolished.
