APRIL. 15, '93, _..For_some_years past Mr. Morgan's duties at the -bank have kept him at ~ _—_— g-and Legal Holidays. — Established Sept. 6, 1860. Terms—15 Cents Week ; 60 Cents a GING TO EUROPE —— . John T. Morgan of the Citizens Bank About to} * 2ew Visit the Land of fis Birth. John T. Morgan, Bkq., cashier of the ,. detriment not only to the party starting it, but to those who have stood by the town during the great stagnation which . ter, P. M. Fisher. Citizens Pank, starts tomorrow for San Francisco to make arrangements for his European trip. He expects to be absent bhas prevailed here for some ycars past. Our people are in duty. bound to stand several months, during which time he will visit his native land of Wales. He will also visit the principal cities of England, France and Germany, and on his return will stop at Chicago and visit the World’s Fair. He will be accompanied by his wife and daughters Rachel and Beasie,.who will leave here as soon ag slesving-berth tickets can be secured en the overland train, which will. probably be next Tuesday or Wednesday. Mr. Morgan’s legion of friends wish him a pleasant trip and a safe return. His long residence in the county and the prominent part he has always taken in public matters, has won for him the highest esteem of all who know him. Wheiever he goes, at hume~or abroad, the best wishes of his Nevada county acquaintances will ever attend him. home rather closely and the vacation and tour that he.is about to take will prove a much needed rest, as well asa pleasant recreation. We wish him and his family God speed. ; Extremely Contagious. _ Smallpox is generally known to be abeut the most contagious of diseases, it has been carried in bundles of clothing er inerchandise hundreds of miles away, and even in letters written by patients afflicted with the disease. But the worst case, in this respect, we ever heard of eccurred at Sierra City several years ago. A man living there had the smallpox and was very sick, and wishing to inform his brother at Grass ¥alley he had a friend write to him, As soon as he began to recover and was getting along nicely he sent a telegram to \»rass Valley notifying his brother:that he was all right. The brother, however, would not receive: the dispatch when told who it was from, for fear that he mightget the smallpox, and another party had to open'the envelope and tell him of the contents of the message. Oe **S:x days shalt thou labor,” says the ' great lawgiver. To do good work, man mustbe at his best. ‘This condition is attained by the use of Ayer's Sarsaparilla. It overcomes that tired, feeling, quickens the appetite, improves digestion, and makes the weak strong. Nat Irwin Out of Luck. Conductor Nat Irwin, the husband of Nora Trau, formerly ef this city, who was shot by a jealous husband at Maxwell sevoral months ago, seems to be out of luck. He was badly injured at Gridley last Saturday. While his train was under headway he endeayored to climb down the ladder from a box toa flat car, when a rung of the laddir gave way, precipitating him to the ground, Mr. Irwin’s knee was fractured, his ankle dislocated, and he was badly shaken up. He will probably be contined to his bed for.several wecks. — : To Get at the Facts Regarding Hood’s Sarsaparilla, ask the people who take this medicine, or read the testimonials often published in this paper.
