A man living there had the smallpox and was very sick, and wishing to inform his brother at Grass ¥alley he had a friend write to him, As soon as he began to recover and was getting along nicely he sent a telegram to \»rass Valley notifying his brother:that he was all right. The brother, however, would not receive: the dispatch when told who it was from, for fear that he mightget the smallpox, and another party had to open'the envelope and tell him of the contents of the message.
