THE DAILY TRANSCRIPT. Our Section Being Boomed AM Over the There is-more money being paid out in . Nevada City’now by the various mining companies, than at any period during the past ten years, and the indications are F that the pay-rolls will be largely increased This statement is made on the authority of the Nevada City TransCrrrt, and is worthy of more than passing notice, because the region Bronze Statue and Flash Clubs. Prof. Charles Hartman will give his great bronze statue act at the Nevada Theater on Thursday evening next. This artistic piece of work must be seen to be appreciated. Mrs. Frona Eunice Waite’s venuses are not in it with Hartman's Apollo, Hercules, Ajax and other superb *. representations. During the gvenitg he will swing the flash clubs, something entirély new here. ful and spectacular performance, which is sure to meet with favor and applause. Hartman has no superior in—all-round athletic work ashe will demonstrate to the entire satisfaction of the audience on April 20th.{ Get. yeur reserved seats ——_—___-~90. Odd Fellows Anniversarg. Union: On Wednesday evening, the 26th instant, the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs of this city will celebrate _ the anniversary of their order. The pregramme will consist of a musical and literary entertainment, to be followed by No invitations have been or tt isa difficuit, beauti-+ around Nevada City and Grass Valley is the center of the gold mining industry in this State. With increasing prosperity there it ought to follow elsewhere. This is one of the signs we have been, expect— ing of a revival of interest in geld mining in California. It is bound to come, for nowhere else in the United States is there a gold-bearing belt of such magnitude and possibilities. With silver, lead and’ other metals in a depressed condition, mining capitalists are turning their attention more to gold properties for investment. Of course Colorado, Montana, Oregon, . Arizona and Idaho have more or less gold mines, but the aggregate product of all these does not nearly reach that of the mines of California. California is still the leading gold producer of the Union, notwithstanding the comparatively light yield of recent years, caused by the total stoppage of the hydraulic: gravel miner. The gold.belt of this State. extends from Siskiyou to San Diego. In certain portions of the belt the developments have been mére extensive than in others, but there are possibilities along the whole line. In ,the southern portion of the State interest is now being turned more to mining than it has been and ¢apital is opening the properties. Inthe extreme _northern portion, teo, inShasta, Trinity and Siskiyou counties particularly, more mining is being done than ever before. In the older mining counties there is _re_mewed iuterest, as the pews from Nevada county indicates. Preparations are heing. made to rehabilitate many of the old hydraulic mines, and though little can he expected of them this year under the new . }. legal conditions, in time they will add materially to the gold yield. Everything peints to a general revival of interest in the gold mines of the entire State. Gold mining is ene of the industries of California which has been ‘com“paratively neglected for many years, bu: outsiders are new coming in and they will do what our ewn capitalists have failed te do—invest in gold properties, See se >» Pablic Benefactor. W. J: Rogers, our Superintendent of Schools, is.a.public benefactor. Why? Because-he had the Teachers Institute convene at Grass Valley. Had that body convened here it would have rained, sure. The change of meeting place was a good move, and we may possibly pull through the week without a storm. —* Oe Orders Pouring Ia. — The house-cleaners, carpenters, painters and whitewashers are now receiving many orders for work in their various lines, and the prospects are good that they will have all they can do for the next few months. But of all the class of people who have ‘‘more than they can possibly attend to,” are the dressmakers, which goes to show that a good per centage of the beautiful ladies go on the outside to have their dresses made. Fall of Peril. Are those disorders -which, beginning with an apparently trivial inactivity’ of the kidneys or bladder, terminates in Bright’s disease, diabetes and cystitis. The rst two not only interrupt the functions of the renal organs, but destroy their structure with as much certainly as tubercular consumption does that of the lungs. Hestetter’s Stomach Bitters is an excellent diuretic, promoting the activity of these organs without ever exciting them, thus averting the deadly maladies in which their inaction is so prone to culminate.
