The loose balance wheel is actuated by‘a solid bolt passing through a coliar-securely pinned to the shaft outside
of the balance wheel, which bolt is held to position by a
strong spiral spring. When a bobbin is to be wound the
bolt is ;ulled out enough to release the balance wheel,
and turned slightly to the right or left where it is held by
a stop-pin till the bobbin is filled. When the machine is
liable to be meddled with by children, the bolt can be left
d6ut of the wheel when notin use, so that the machine
cannot be operated by the treadle.
The driving w .1eel on this machine is admitted to be the simplest, easies
running and most convenientofany. The machine is self-rhreading, has the
