save him, the elder drowned.

The second tableau represents Washington taking command of the American
army. As a matter of fact, this event
took place in Cambridge under a buge
tree, called thereafter the “Washi
Elm.” To represent this would be impossible, but the stage may be made to
look as much like out of doors as it can. . :
The central figures are Washington and
a soldier, whois giving him his sword.
If it can be arranged, léet 4 single line of
