A small monument of black marble
from Nevada county is expected tu arrive at the California World’s Fair.Commission in a few days for shipment to

some interest, for the discovery of black
marble in this State dates back only one
year, The monument is being made at
a quarry on the South Yuba’river,

It is only of late years that rheumatism
has been treated as a blood disease, But
that this is a correct theory is proved by
the extraordinary success attending the
use of Ayer’s Sarsaparilla, in this painful
and very prevalent malady. It seldom
fails of radical cure.

A Little Girl's Experience In A Pignehouse.
Mr. and Mrs, Loren Trescett are keepers. of the Gov. Lighthouse at Sand
Beach, Mich., and are blessed with a
daughter, four years old. Last April she
was taken down with Measles, follewed
with a dreadful Cough and turning intoa
Fever. Docters at home and at~ Detroit
treated her, but in vain, she grew worse
rapidly; until she was a mere ‘handful of
bones.” —Then she tried Dr. King’s New
Discevery and after the use of two anda
half b6ttles, was completely cured. They
say Dr. King’s New Discovery is worth
its weight in gold, yet you may get a
trial bottle free at Carr Bros. Drugstore.

Mostly in the Evening.
The.bulk.of.the business. done -in-this
city is transacted during the evening,
and the town naturally presents a dull
appearance during the day. It is a
Jerusalem at Chicago.
Among the many exhibitions in Chicago, outside of the World’s Fair itself,
few will be more interesting or praisworthy than the new Cyclorama of Jerusalem and the Crucifixion of the Savior
that’ has been prepared at great expense
and in a most elaborate manner for exhibition during the World’s Fair Season.
The work ‘is being done under the peérsonal supervision of Mr. H. H. Gross, the
director of artists of the great Chicago
Fire Cyclorama, which gives assurance
of its being, when completed, an Sieh
tionly fine preduction.
Thismost important of all historical
events, we are informed, will be treated
by the artist in the most tender aud rev—
ential spirit and will embody many suggestions made by eminent divines and
bible students, for the purpose ‘of mak
ing it a great-and worthy historical work;
as well as a beautiful voto of art.
Che mammoth, canvas, 50 feet high and
400 feet long, is now receiving the fin
ishing touches by the artists, aud will be
open to the public, upon Wabash Ave.
and Hubbard Court, on the Ist of May.
No spot on earth is so rich in historic
interest as Jerusalem and her environmént, and this great Cyclorama is de,
signed to show in a realistic and faithful
manner, the ancient city and the country for miles round about, and wiJl no
doubt prove a very interesting and popular resort fur those who are interested
jn this great event,—and whe is not interested init,

Sunday Fanerals.
That the clergymen of (trass Valley
and Nevada City are not alone in their
opposition to Sunday funerals-is apparexit from. the following, taken from a recent issue of The Congregationalist:, ‘A
large number of pastérs of different deneminations in New York have ayreed
not to officiate at funerals on Sunday
except in cases of absolute necessity.
Similar action is being taken by ministers in other places. Sunday is full of
labor for ministers and it is of first importanee for public duties. This is very
little thought of by many who call for
their services,”
