The Best Methed of Exterminating thie Pest. and Pear Trees.’”? The most effective method of getting rid of the codlin moth seems to be to spray with paris green. The best results are obtained by mixing one pound of paris green to 160 gallons of water, a flour-paste so as tomake_the water quite milky having first been mixedin. ‘The paris green is diluted cimply with water, this being preferable to diluting with ammonia. The spraying should be done the first time when tlie petals have pretty near dropped from the blossoms, For fungus or black scab, dry sulphur is effective. Forsome parts of the State two sprays of kerosene emulsion during the sumi.er will insure good fruit, and the same wash for the brown apricot scale is alsd good. For all leafeating worms paris green is effective, as it is for the cedlin moth. Attention during the summer and frequent spraying’ was recommended _ rather than wholesale winter treatment. It isa mistake to give up spraying and ‘trust who'ly tothe parasites to do the work, A-general discussion ensued and a variety of methods were suggested of getting rid of the apple and pear pests.
