Everything indicates that the coming
Fair of this District will: be the largest

Unquestionably the crowd, from all portions of the State, will be larger than
ever before, and the attractions will be
greater. The Pavilion at this city wili
eclipse anything ever seen, and Armory
Hall wil soon be put in readiness for
that purpose. The Fair will coummence
one week from next Tuesday and continue
for tive days. e
There are ninety-eight horses entered

The Telegraph wants to know ‘what
1as become of the Sunset Telephone
Company.?” That is just what we
would like to know.
There is a big rock in the center of the
road below the railroad track on the
Grass Valley road that’ should be blown
into smithereens. . It-is.a huge nuisance.
The Telegraph says: The-Native-Sons
will almost exhaust their surplus cash on
hand in decorating the town and in making arrangements to entertain the visitors. In all probability the 9th pf. Sep.
tember will see the largest crowd of
people ever assembled in Grass Valley,
and the exercises will be dignified,
the men of too much drilling.
Much dissatisfaction has been evinced
among.the members of the First Artillery because they have been almost
totally ignored by the Santa Cruz papers
in their repoitts of our camp life.
One thing ‘we can say abeut our Regiment is that wé have no decorations
about our quarters. The men pay strict
attention to their duties and have so
time to fool away after drills, they would
sooner take a good rest so as to make a
good showing the next day. 2
It is a grand sight to see the dress
parade in the afternoon, Nearly . everybody in Santa Cruz comes_out. to see the
dress parade and guard mounting. j
