The Nevada County Narrow Guage Railroad connects with the Central Pacific at Colfax and extends thence north te the central portion of the county, passing through Chicago Park, Grass Valley, and terminating at Nevada City—twenty-two miles from\ the Central Pacitic Overland Railroad. The central pertions contain most of the rich , gold mines, including quartz, hydraulic and placer minés together with the upper portion of the Horticultural belt, while the western or foothill region consists exclusively of agricultural and grazing lands. When a bobbin is to be wound the bolt is julled out enough to release the balance wheel; and turned slightly to the right or left: where it is held by a stop-pin till the bobbin is filled. When the machine is liable to be meddled with by children, the bolt can be left ' out of the wheel when-not in use, so that the machine . cannot be operated by the treadle, : thie bps badge on this machine is admitted to be t running and most convenient of any.
