Cost of a Cement Siaewalk.
The cement sidewalk along the Pine
and Commereial street sides of the Masonic Block is completed and vastly
improves the appearance of thatpart
of thecity. It was built by day’s labor and including the curbing and
other material, grading, étc., cost from
43 to 45 cents asquare foot. Itissix
feet wide, which makes the cost per
front foot from $20 to $2.70.
—“The wooden sidewalk onthe south
side of Broad street from the National
Hotel Block to the Glenbrook salodn
is bélag Péplaced by one of cement.
Many other owners of business property contemplate-making a similar improvement, ARISE
Cement.walks cost more-dora starter
than-do those built of wood, but they.
are cheaper in the long run and are}
in every way better.

More About the Church Dedicatien at Bicomficid.
Nortn Buoomrreup, Aug. 26, 1890.
_. Eprror Transcarr—Last Sunday
morning was a day long to be remem-_
bered in the annals of North Bloom. field, it being the dedication -of the
Catholic Church in that town. For
several days previous to that day the
ladies there worked with untiring zeal
in decorating.the Church for the occasion and rendering assistance in every
way which would add credit to the sacred edifice. Their work was doubly
‘rewarded. At9o’clock an early mass
was celebrated and was well attended,
while at 10:30 the Church was crowded to'its utmost capacity and many
were glad to be within hearingon the
~outside.
The choir, composed of eight .of St.
Canice Catholic Church in Nevada
City, left that place at an early. heur,
had breakfast at Lake City and ar" rived at Bloomfield ubout eight o’clock.
Their singing was considered to far excel any ever before heard in our town,
and Nevada Citymay well be-proud —
of them.. An organ was placed in the
Chureb forthe occasion. A new altar
lately arrived from the East, was tastefully decorated with flowers of every
description placed there by loving
bands, and we trust that their pathway
through this life may beas untarnished_asithe pure flowers they lovingly
placed in the Houseof God. Mass was ‘
celebrated by Rev. Fat her Ubildis, assisted by Rev. Father Tanham, and
his sermon abounded in words of truth
and cainsel and was listened to by appreciative believers in his own religion. The Hibernian + marched to the
Church dressed in their full uniform
and were a credit. to‘them and their
a eligion. At 20’¢ ock they bad a banquet at Landsburg Hotel and it was
_ enjoyed by all who participated:
Many thanks ‘are offered to the
YoungMen’s Iustitute for the kindness shown in many ways. To the
ladies of North Bloomfield -who so
beautifully decorated the church we
sincerely offer our thinks, also to the
people of our town who so liberally
donated flowers. 8.
