The new public schoolhouse at
Truckee was burned Sunday night.
The loss is about $8,000 and the insurance $3,500, Last Summer when

The funeral of James Daley, who

night by Wm. Travers, took place Saturday, the body being buried at North
Bloomfield. Travers was brought to

Enpitor Transcarpt—The silver wedding anniversary of Mr, and Mrs. B.
F. Snell took place on Dec. ,10th and
was celebrated in a manner long to be
4emembered by those who participated. Odd Fellows Hall was he scene
of the festivities and was beautifully
decorated with ferns, evergreens, and
flowers. The guests arrived early,
but owing to the bad~«state of the
weather aud roads they were only the
home folks. After spending an hour
in playing games, singing songs, and
criticizing Mr. Snell’s wedding suit,
(he being attired in the same suit,
shirt, collarand necktie that he wore
when he was married 25 years ago),
supper was announced. The bride
and groom led the supper march
which contained nearly 25 couple.
The tables were laid to accommodate
the full number and bounteously filled
with everything an epicure could desire. Afterspending:the usual time
in giving toasts and speeches, and silencing the craving of the inner man,
the tables were cleared away and
dancing begun and continued until
the ‘‘wee sma’ hours.’”’ :
Mr. and Mrs, Snell’s 25 years of
married life have been years of happiness and prosperity.

A Letter From That Part of Grasse
Valley Township.
Eprror Transcript—Owing to the
wet and disagreable weather the
Lime Kiln school will close on Dec.
20th. Mr. Turner, the teacher, will
give an exhibition on the closing day
in the evening. The programme will
consist of dialogues, comic stump
speeches, humorous recitations, songs,
tableaux and negro minstrelsy. The
exhibition will be given for the benefit of the school property.
The mail carrier of the Auburn and
Wolf route was prevented from making
his trip on Saturday, Dec. 7th, on account of the high water in Wolf creek.
Mr. Ware, an old resident of Pleasant Ridge district, died on Dec. 6th at
the matufed age of eighty eight years.
His wife survives him, she being
eighty three years of age.
The soil is po mushy in the foot hills
and valleys that the farmers will not
be able to finish putting in their crops
for a couple of weeks.

At the National Hotel Sunday night

Joe Ferri, the party from’ whom the
robber of the Downieville stage got
$140 inthe afternoon, Rector Brothers
did not charge him for-his board during his stay in town, so he had
enough money to continué on his
journey to San Francisco.
