Findley, William Young, George,Carter, and M; P. O’Cennor. The Board organized. by electing Edward Coleman Preuident and Superintendent, Thos. Findley Treasurer, and M. P, ©’Connor, Secretary. We visited the Idaho mine yesterday, and were shown through the new works by Edward Coleman, Superintendent. The inilland mine are situated: immediately southeast of the Eureka mine. The new 15-stamp mill is constantly employed on rock taken from the mine, and is crushing on an average 150 tons per week, They have a surplus of 700 tons of xock on the mine. The Idaho is: now being worked at a perpendicular depth of 420 feet. The ledge at this point is from four tofour and a half feet wide. The cost of the mill, independent of the hoisting works, is $15,000. Gold is saved from the blankets, the pulp ground in the amalgamating pang, and the sulphurets saved by the Paine & Stevens’ buddle. One per cent of all the rock crushed is saved in sulphurets, they being worked by the chlorine process, and have paid thus far, over and above the expense uf working the same, from $250 to $300 perton. The ledge is now known to be the southern extension ef the Eureka, having been worked up to: that ledge on the 300-foot level. All the machinery in the mill is of the very best quality. Thecaetings are smorth and perfect, and were made at Taylor's foundry, on Mill street, and are as good as can be manufactured at any foundry in the State. The evidence had all been introduced, and the lawyers had finished their pleas, and nothing’ remained but fot the jurytoretire and make up their verdict. Aftera moment,s suspense, the lawyer arose and asked the justice if he would not charge the jury, ‘Oh no; I guess not, I never charge them anything,” replied the justice; ‘they don’t get much anyhow, and I will let them have all they can make.” ————EEE Wuy suffer with dyspepsia, biliousness or apy disease of the liver when you can be cured by Simmons Liver Regulatoz. It is interesting to observe how one sensation after another occupies the attention of acommunity. At one time politics interest young and old,’ male and female, Cpinions clash, families are disunited, society is disorganized, harsh language is bandied back and forth, and the amenities of life seem to be altaost entirely disregarded. But soon some other excitement comes along and people quickly forget the bitterness of party spirit, friendship and concord flow again into their former channels, and in the place of old feuds and grudges spring new and entertaining topics of conversation. In Nevada City for some time the game of drive whist has had. a firm hold on old ‘and young. Everybody shows a liking for it. Men and women close the breviary, the prayer book and even the book of books to examine into the seductive and bewildering combinations of the pastime. If they have children, they are suddenly anxiou$ they should understand the game an be trained so ais to play their part well. Those who have reached their prime, and perhaps are turning the shady side of life, are suddenly moved by an unaccountable impulse, and for the first time in their lives juggle with the pasteboards:’But few are too advanced in aye, and but few are considered of too tender years to take a practical interest in the rules set forth by Pole and Hoyle. It would seam that. the community is impressed, permeated, perhaps ‘‘psychologised”’ with one central idea, all others being minors or satellites, People soon tire, hewever, of excitements; but when one passes away another must needs take its place in their minds and run the entire length of-the gamut. Whist willin due time run its course, then be forced into oblivion by some other fad that will in excercising a dominating but transient. time bubble upon the surface of society, influence.
