A Hint te Business Men.
Many business firms indulge in what
may be called ‘‘spasmodid¢ advertiaing,” apparently thinking that in the
rush and clamor of business dealers are
going to call a halt and invoke memory
to resurrect them from the jaws of
: . oblivion. People in want of lines or
classes of goods scan the columns of
a journal for dealers in or manufactures of those lines, because it is the
~peediest and surest way of reaching
them. If your name is there, all right;
if it is not you will get left.
You do not, any of you, advertise
enowh. You are asleep and want
yur business to run itself. You
ought to to use printers’ ink every
day.—P. T. Barnum.
DEALERS who are many years be
hind the spirit of the, age sometimes
advance the absurd argument that by
not advertising they save thut expense
to their customers, and perhaps make
some of their customers believe it ; yet
when it is remembered that in every
conimunity the most successful dealers are those whose printer’s ink
indiciously, the folly of this argument
18 apparent. If by spending $100 or
$200 a year for advertising (which is a
reasonably large sum in the smaller
towns and cities), a dealer can sell
$500 or $1000 more, it is a good investment; and if he advertises with judgment, he will increase his sales largely over these figures.
The clubbing arrangement by
which the Dairy Trantcrirr and the
Weekly Texas Siftings can be had for
$7a year in advance will expire on
best brands, and I challenge competition in . .the last of next month, and after that
date the two papers will cost $10.a
year. Pay now and save $3.
Gert a good article, advertise liberally but judiciously ; advertise the truth ;
set forth the announcement in-a neat,
simple but pleasing way, and satisfactory results will. follow.—Home
Journal.
