The long continued wet weather has made the roads bad for traveling in every direction, and heavy teaming ‘s for the time being suspended. David Shoemaker of Cooper’s Medical Institute is home to spend the holidays. “ Some time last night a portion of the roof of Yeo’s ‘‘Bee Hive’’ dry goods’ store succumbed to the weight of the snow. Jack Harrison’s barber shop, in the second story, was considerably damaged and the snow water and waterfrom a faucet in the barber shop deluged Yeo’s store below, ruining a portion of the ceiling and damaging some $2,000 worth of ribbone, laces, cloaks and dress goods. This morning the store resembled a laundry. The Board of Education will strengtbenthe Bell building so as to render it safe for afewmonths. In the mean time an election for the issuance of bonds to provide funds for a new building will be called. The bonds must be issued. It now remains to be decided the number and value of the bonds. They will sell at par, if not at a premium, and can be redeemed at. periods extending over say ten years. Thus the edditional tax wil! beligbt. The Tidings favors a $20,000 building—modern in every respect, insuring adequate accommodations for years to come and comprising a monument to this education-loving community.
