says: The rotary performed its first
duty of the season on Thursday afternoon, A largenumber of men were
employed in shoveling snow from the
tracks nearest the Truckee Hotel to
the track. adjoining the plaza, after
which the rotary was brought out, and
in a very short time had it transferred
tothe plaza. A large crowd of eager
spectators were on the scene to witness the operations of this wonderful
Mmvention, which has about arrived at
perfection forthe purpose for which it
is intended, -The cyclone, which was
on duty here last winter, is now at
Sacramento,.it being inadequate to
the heavy snows of the mountains.

‘Those who would make these lovely little morsels to perfection must keep exclusively to the proportions of the different ingredients -and likewise be careful
that the biscottines are not overbaked
nor burnt in any way. Take
One pound fine, dry pastry flour.
Eight ounces butter (fresh).
One-half ounce finely sifted biscuit
‘A hock glassful of rose water.
Two eggs.
The flour and biscuit powder should
be sifted together, and then the other ingredients well rubbed into them. The
sugar should now be mixed thoroughly,
