A semi-fiendish delight often seems to
possess people of strong nerves in sneering at those with weak ones. The irritability of the nervous hypochondriac is
ridicuted as natural ill temper. The very

of sympathy with which the nervous invalid meets from the unfeeling and the
thoughtless. At the same time no complaint is more defined and real, none has

the San Francisco delegation should defray alt the -regularexpenses of the con:

$5 assessment was levied mergly to pay
the preliminary expenses. Ree UES
R. McMurray, the ‘chairman, in reply
fo inquiries, said the attendance would
be large, probably six or seven hundred
miningmen, The corresponding. secretary had received word that nearly
every county in the State, except Colusa, Sutter, Glenn and San Joaquin,
would be represented, There was, however, some doubt about delegations
coming from Tehama, Yolo, Solano,
Marin, Mendocino, Santa. Barbara,
Merezd and Humboldt. It was, however, certain that forty-two counties
wdull be represented,
Mr, Yale, chairman of the Committee
on Resolutions, touched upon the importance of having them framed in direct
and concise language. He thought the
tendency toward long, tedious. and
meaningless preambles ought to be
avoided. He asked for an early meétreavlutions into shape before the meeting
‘of the convention. ee 3
After paying their assessments to. Secretary W, O. Ralston, the delegation adjourned subject to the call of the chairman. ~
-The Miners’ State Convention will be
Held on the 20th inst. It will be the
first of its character ever held in California, notwithstanding the mining industry is the pioneer interest of the
Pacific Coast and is today one of great
magnitude, notwithstanding it labors
under many’ discouragemepts. These
chiefly spraug from hostile legislation
and what the miners claim to be the un
fair, the unjust and oppressive construction and misconstruction of laws.
