Patti’s castle in Wales was robbed of valuable jewelry on Monday night. The merchants of Rio Grande City, Tex., are terrorized by Mexican bandits, ~ : Ca:dinal Tascherau has declined to attend a reception at Montreal where decollete dresses, were to be worn. Considerable feeling is manifested in Davisville, this State,against admitting colored children to the public school. A gang of train hands, who have been ~ systematically robbing the Southern Pacific, have been arrested at Tucson. ' Jeff Davis received 30,000 rebel veterans at Macon, Ga., on Wednesday, and a confederate’flag was carried in the procession. Henry Martin, Cashier of the New York Sub-Treasury,° has gone to Canada with $10,000 of the Government’s money. , George Roe, of Georgetown,N. M., had both arms blown off and his body badly mutilated on Tuesday. He was tamping a charge of giant powder. Although public reports of the condition of Jennie Lind have not been unfavorable.in the last two days, priyately there is no hope entertained of her recovery. John A. Johnson, convicted with Wilson of murdering the Clevinger family in Arizona, who was to have been hanged Friday, at Prescott, has had his sentence commuted to imprisonment for life. Near Hastings, Neb., a German darmer.(Schooke) was found burned to death alongside the public bighway. While under the influence of liquor he fell out of his wagon and his clothes caught fire from his pipe. Dr. Potter, in charge of the relief measure at Tampa, Florida, telegraphs that there nave been 225 to 250° cases of yellow fever and thirty-four deaths uptodate. There were fourteen new cases on Thursday, and about eighty are sick in town. James I. Crittenden has commenced a suit against the proprietor of the San Francisco Chronicle for $100,000 damages for defamation of character. In the report of the Morrow trial the Chronicle quoted the elder Northey as testifying that Mr. Crittenden had delivered an envelope containing $2,000 to Frank P. Northey. The father of Northey really testified that lawyer Freidenrich gave the envelope to Frank P. Northey.ial a eae Uvan has a population of 200,000, of whom 135,000 are Mormons, while 65,000 belong to the Gentile classes. Her property is assessed at $35,665,802. Brown, J. ‘tf. Morgan, Chas. Barker, G. C. Gaylord, G. E. Turner, Wm. Campbell, W. C. Jones and Geo. E. Brand and their executors and assigns the right to construct and maintain forthe term of fifty years, a Street Railway for the transportation of passengers along the public road of the Connty of Nevada, from the South line of the corporate limits of Nevada City to ane Santee y limits of the Town of Grass Jalley. 2nd> There is hereby granted the right-to run cars over said line of road upon the payment to the County of Nevada, as a license upon each car so to run, the sum of Five (5) Dollars per annum ; and such cars may be propelled by horses, mules, wire ropes running under the roadway, by steam or by electric motors. 4 Provided however, and this franchise is gfanted upon the express condition that : 1st. Work to construct the said road must be commenced within one year from the date of this Ordinance, and that said work must be completed within three years from the date hereof. ' 2nd. That said Railway may run along the line of the pnblic highway on either the Upper or lower road, but when running along the highway must be constructed on one side of the highway track at sufficient distance from the centre thereof se as not to interfere with the free passage of teams thereon, and may cross the road where sugh crossing shall be deemed necessary, but in either case the said Railway must be so constructed as not to impair travel along the said highway or at the crossings ; and all crossings when made, must be kept in repair at all times, so as not to interfere with, orinany way impede publictravel. And it is further conditioned that in the construction of the track of the said Railway, if,at any point itshall be on the public highway the track must be so constructed that all vehicles ma pane over the same without being impeded therebv.
