have a law under

products that are

shis statute thousands of pounds of tea have
been burned because of their wholesale adulteration.
Tea, by the way, is one of the most notorivusly adulterated articles of commerce. Not
alone are the bright, shiny green teas artifi
elally colored, but thousands of pounds of
substitutes for tea leaves are used to swell
the bulk of cheap teas; ash, slog, and willow
leaves’ being those most co: only used.
Again, sweepings from tea warehouses. are
colored and sold astca. Even exhausted tea
eaves ga:hered from the tea-houses are kept,
dried, and madeoverand find their way into
the cheap teas.
The Euglish government attempts to stamp
this out by coufiseation; but no tea is too
poor for us, and the result is, that probably
che poorest teasused by any mation are those
consumed in America
{ Peech’s Tea is presented with the guar

in fact, the sun-cured tea leaf-pure and simple. Its purity insures superior strength,
about one third less of it being required for
an infusion than of the artificial teas, and its
fragrance and exquisite flavor is at once apparent. It ‘will bea-revelation to you In

We have made such arrangements as enable us to offer
the Chicago
‘SINGER SEWING MACF INES.
This machine. is,made after. the /atets models rtom
‘Singer Machities;and is a perfect fac-simile in make, “of
namentation and appearance. All,the parts are made tc
gauge exactly the same as the Singer, and are constructed
of precisely the.same materials.
The Chicago Singer Machine have every importan improvement ina loose balance wheel so constructed as to
premit winding bobbins without removing the work from
the machine.
The loose balance wheel is actuated by a solid bolt passing through a coliar securely pinned to the shaft outside
of the balance wheel, which bolt is held to position bya
strong spiral spring. -When a bobbin is to be wound the
bolt is. ;ulleg out enough to .release the balance wheel,
and turr 2d slightly to the‘right or left where it is held by
a stop-pi.: tili the bobbin is filled.
liable to be meddled with by children, the bolt can be left
out of the wheel when not in use, so that the machine
cannot be operated by the tréadle:
The driving w «eel on this machine is admitted to be the simplest, easies
running and most convenient of any. ~The machine.is self-threading, as the
very best ten#ion and thread liberator, is mude oft e best maerial, with the
wearing parts hardened, arid is finished in.a superior styelt. 1t bas ve

“nerve racking.” A brand of pure

the pure sun-cured undyed Japan
