Miners’ Convention,
The Placer county mining men called
aconvention of miners to meet in San
Francisco on Wednesday next, Thoy
asked all the counties in the State to
send delegates. ‘The response has exceeded the expectations of the Placer
county men and even the miners themselves. The convention was called. in
the interest of miners and miners alone.
To the astonishment of the people at
large who are interested in mining, such
counties as Sacramento and Colusa have
elected delegates to attend the convention for the sole purpose of creating dissension and attempt to thwart the purpose for which the cenvention was
called. We sincerely hope that the
anti-mining, crank delegates, such ay

Worse Than California.
Thieves in California have been known
to become so hardened as to steal the
sacred utensils from the ve.try of a
church, but it is doubtful : if they
have ever went so far as to atop a funeral
procession and reb the miuister and
undertaker, as was uone in Hilladale
county, Michigan, a few days ago.

In vain the cheek with beauty glows,
Unless the teech are pureand white,
Unless the breath is like the rose;
And SOZODONT alone supplies
These beauties that we all so prize.
