a dilemma, It hasfor a week past
been printing a fifth less than its regular edition in order té make its atock
of paper on hand last throngh the interruption to transportation if possible.

of the weather past and present. Although it isa subject that has been tabooed in polite society for geome weeks
past,and the papers of the county
have studiously avoided touching upon
it, it peeeme necessary that some recorde
should be preserved in order to prevent
latter-day historians from falaifyinp
and exaggerating the facts as to the
climatic idiosyneracies manifested in
the hardest winter that California ever
experienced,

Mrs. Steckham’s Daughter Fatally Shoots Hereelf.
A Tucson (Arizona) paper gives the
following account of the death of one
of the daughters of Mrs, Mary Stockham of this city, The deveased formerly resided. here: :
On Wednesday morning (Jan. 15th)
this community was startled at the
announcement of the fact that Mre.
Russell, wife of T, C. Russell, had
met death at her own hands.. Upon
inquiry it was learned that her husband had leit the house at the usual
hour to engage in his work. The deceased appeared in good spirits. At
10 o’clock he w.s notified of the sad
fate of his wife, -The body was found
lying on the floor, a large pistol was
