You eak at once how it is that it is not offered for sale and that you know nothing of it That is @uswered easily; but it is necessary to present first a few details. The. public only knows twe general classes, viz, the green and black teas. ¥: 4 . Theabominable coloring practice even admits of the use of foreign substances, and the English governmeiit. which looks closer into the genuineness of its staples than ours, has in some of the alleged “finest” of teas found redried leaves, straw, fragments of maicting, tieehusks, and willow leaves. In fact, st isenenly _gtated by an English authority that Lundreds of thousands of pounds of sloe, ash, ad wiklow leaves are anuua'ly imported as tea, which without the coloring process would be impossible. They report tea as one of the most notoriously adulterated articles of commerce, The temptation to inake sweepings and bad tea intoa merchantable product with a few cents’ worth of green coloring matter is too strong to withstand, and the worthlessness of the trash that often finds its way to this man ket labeled “New Crop,” “Best Quality,” “Green Tea," été., would simply astound the publio-ifrevealed, to say nothing of the unhealthfulness of the Prussian blue, plumbago, gypsum, and the other mineral colors that are employed. 3 Black Teas. That it is, therefore, sweeter and far more fragraut than the artificially colored green teas and the manipulated basket o: teas, is also apparent. That it is more expensive, is also true; and that is another reason you have never seen it Theres not s0 much prodit in it as there is in the cheap adulterated and colored teas. About the Cost of Teas. amaount of tea received at Ban Francisco last $056,290, or a fraction over i180 per pound The consumer, of which the reader was one, paid for that 1c tea all the way from 50c to $1 per pound. In other words, for that $956,259 worth of tea theconsumer paid between four and five millions of doliars. There are your enormous profits, and there you will probably find the chief reason why most of you never heard of asun-dried tea. As the sun-dried teas have no mask, they sre compelled to be absolately pure and of better quality than the artificially colored and manipulated teas. Hence the margins on them are smaller, and many dealers don’t care about handling them, and you know nothing about them. But it is the object of this article to tell you where you can get them, and what to ask for, and all about them. fi ** Beech’s Tea.”” “Beech’s Tea,” guaranteed to be the pure

It will be found in color to be just between the artificially colored green and the black teas, and the drawn tea presents a clear, brilliant canary color, of delightful fragrance. It is offered to the people at 600 per pound, the same price that many artifi. clally colored teas are sold for. But its guaranteed purity makes it more economical to use; for a less quantity, ssy about twenty grains, Sis required per cup. As there are 7,680 grains to a pound, there will be seen to it ia more healthful than the mineral-colored-. Sr. Marearet’s, Md. Dec: 14, 1889 -We received the machine two weeks since in good order.
