pct es : Hon. Richard I. Thomas, _who_repre‘igs sents the Twelfth District, comprised in
Nevada county, enjoys the distinction of
being the youngest member belonging to
the-rising generation of California’s sons
who-has been chosen. to represent a_constituency in her legislative halls at the
present‘ session.
He first opened his eyes to the light of
this world on June 22,.1870, in the minig camp at French Corral, in Nevada
county, and his:life has since been passed
amoprg the scenes common to a mining
community, so that the nuggets for which
the greater portion of mankind spend
their lives and energies, have been objects
of more or léss everyday acquaintance to
him. ‘
He is a son of R. A: Thomas, a representative mining man of Nevada county,
a pioneer, who came here in 1854, and

No boy can grow up in such a country,
if he be possessed of any of the elements
which when developed raise a.man above
his fellow’, without feeling the mysterious influence of his surroundings stirring
within him. 7 Nature's voice speaks to
him from the trees, the rocks and the
rills,;and awakens in him a desire for
something higher than his everyday: existence.
So it was with young Thomas. His early
education was obtained at the village
school near the mines, but there was a
hidden force which impelled him to.a,
higher plane and beyond the limited op“ poftinities which were afforded to’ him
in the home schools. Hence we see him

Willcure You, isa true statement of the
taken for diseases originating in impure
blood ; but, while this assertion is true of
AYER’S Sarsaparilla, as thousands can
attest, it cannot be truthfully applied to
other preparations, which unprincipled
dealers will recommend, and try to impose upon you, as “just as good as
Ayer’s.”” Take Ayer’s Sarsaparilla and
Ayer’s only, if you need a blood-purifier
and would be benefited permanently.
This medicine, for nearly fifty years,
has enjoyed a reputation, and made a
record for cures, that has never been
equaled by other preparations. AYER'S
Sarsaparilla eradicates the taint of hereditary scrofula and other blood diseases from the system, and it has, deservedly, the confidence of the people.
