There are millions in money, which have been invested in mining machinery, literally rotting away at. different points in the interior, just because a few unprincipled men have been able to point to the debris of half a century, and use it as an argument to convince the, ignorant crew of city loafers and country demagogues, which, from time to time, pollutes the legislative halls at the State Capitol, that the production of gold is a drawback to the prosperity of California.
