Caldwell, George Shaw and N.Douglass,who were elected on June 3d toserve as trustees of this school district, in place of the Board of Education, met Saturday in the yard of Washington schoolhouse (being unable to effect an entrance to the building) and organized. Mr. Douglass: was elected President and Mr. Caldwell Secretary. They decided to hold an election of teachers soon, and their advertisement for applications for positions appears in another column. Death of Themas Began. Thomas Hogan of Rocklin died Friday. He came six weeks ago from the East where he had been living seven years since leaving Grass Valley. Mre. George Tracy of Grass Valley is bis daughter. He also leaves two o her daughters and one son. M, Hogan of Grass Valley ishis brother.
