ously adulterated articles of commerce. No
alone are the bright, shiny green teas artifi
cially colored, but thousands of pounds o!

the bulk of cheap teas; ash, sloe, and willow
leaves being those most commonly used.
Again, sweepings from tea warehouses: are
colored and sold astea. Even exhausted tea
leaves gathered from the tea-houses are kept,
